Tom Does it Again!!!!
No stranger to winning, Tom Scanlan, Elgin County’s carver extraordinaire has surpassed his previous accomplishments, and come home with a first in Advanced Interpretative Carving from the Ward World Wildfowl Carving Competition in Ocean City Maryland.
Tom’s Green Heron was carved from a single piece of driftwood gifted to him by a friend and fellow artist Judy Ross.
Carefully shaped, and finished with clear polyurethane the stylized heron’s subtle detail is truly beautiful, contrasting with the rough untouched driftwood that Tom so masterfully left as supporting contrast.
Tom will be showing this work, and available to talk about his art, techniques and motivation Saturday May 14th, 2-4, and Sunday May 22nd 11-5 pm at the Art Emporium, 177 Main St, Port Stanley, call 226-658-1888 for more information.

Robert Reid, Octogenarian Marvell
Over 5 years ago when a group of artists frustrated with the art show festival circuit decided to form the collective that became the Art Emporium, Bob was a ring leader, at that point he was a mere 79 years old. He still is a major player in our organization, and he still can run rings around the rest of us!
