Serenity For Sale

The serenity of our 'green corner' beckons. The Heron fishes, while seagulls contemplate and flowers nod. Tea cups and vases await filling, as your soul feels the calm.

We Sell Sea Shells, By The 'Sea' Shore

Lake Erie may not be a 'sea' but we have one of the best 'shores' around here in Port Stanley. Blue Flag Beaches, amazing restaurants, excellent theatre, and of course.....ART!
These unique items are displayed in our Gift Boutique, the artist Mario Moran is using sea urchin shells as the body of the pieces.

Micheal Yates, Heart and Soul

Micheal was bitten by the photographic bug early and studied at Fanshaw Collage when darkroom proficiency was part of the equation.
He made the switch to digital  in 2004, and has worked the learning curve hard. The effort shows in his work which has an almost magical quality.

Some Call Her Sam

Pop Music has Pink, Cher, and Eminem. The Art Emporium has Sam.
Sam is the nom de brush of Sandra England, a very talented artist working in various media, though currently oil is her favoured medium.
Her use of a very distinctive pallet, and a preference for  the figurative,  makes her work instantly recognizable. The rose macro she chose as her feature piece would seem to fly in  the face of that preference, until you hear her describe it as a portrait of a rose.

Jo Wilkinson, Capturing Port Stanley

Jo does a wonderful job of capturing the essence of our charming little Port in this watercolour. The fishing tugs at the ready, with historic buildings in the background. By the way, one of those historic buildings she's depicted houses The Art Emporium!

Featuring Pat Brown

This is a sweetly serene little piece by Pat.   The bend of the river, and the gravel banks are all so typical of the rivers here, that you will be saying "I know that place". Whether you do or not is immaterial, she has captured the scene so lovingly that you'll feel it's peace immediately.

Featuring Christa Oglan's Work This July

Often textural, and vibrantly colourful, whether figurative or non-representational, Christa's work is magical. Her non-representational work especially shows a sense of rhythm and flow, interspersed with mystery.

Welcome Kelly Bennet, assemblage artist

Whimsical. Funky. Tongue in cheek, how ever you describe Kelly's work it all comes down to fun. We've seen up-cycling, and assemblage before, but none as well done as Kelly's. It's with great pleasure that we welcome Kelly into the Boathouse Gallery. She will be honoured at the featured artists fete on July 12th 2-4pm here at the Art Emporium's Boathouse Gallery. As always parking and refreshments are free.

Tom Scanlan, Congratulations Champion

What can we say about Tom, he's a really really nice guy who's uber talented, he's a charter member of our collective- we're very lucky to have him and...once again he's brought a BIG ribbon home from the Ward World Wildfowl Carving Competition! (Ocean City Maryland, 45th Annual)
This time it's a 2nd in the Advanced Division, Interpretive Wood Sculpture, for his sculpture "The Old Man and Me" carved from manzanita root and hand rubbed with polyurethane, the sculpture depicts a pelican that shifts from youth to great age, depending on the angle you view it from.
Tom's no stranger to winning at the Worlds, but in typical Tom fashion, he doesn't say much about it, so we're making up for the lack.
Congratulations Tom!
If you'd like to chat with Tom about his work he'll be in the gallery 11-5pm on July 24th, 26th and August 3rd.
