Ethel Mitrovick, Earns Another Award

This is a guest post bY Philip Schmidt

Preeeee-senting:

The second 'Honourable Mention' winner in the Art Gallery of Lambeth 2014 Miniature Show.....

Beautifully crafted by none other than Art Emporium member artist ETHEL MITROVIC, a most talented and Whimsical sculptor.....

Together with accompanying critique by OSA juror extraordinaire Cathy Groulx!

The Art Gallery of Lambeth 'mini' show runs until April 26, so please drop in for a visit.  The gallery is located at 2454 Main Street in downtown Lambeth.  I daresay that you'll find the works of the exhibiting artists to be both unconventional and beguiling.

On behalf of Art Gallery of Lambeth curators Vivian Tserotas and Brenda Morris,

Wilf Chappell, Earns Another Award

This is a guest post from  Philip Schmidt.

La-dies and gentle-men!

The final 'Honourable Mention' winner in the Art Gallery of Lambeth 2014 Miniature Show.....

As skillfully captured on camera by our very own Art Emporium member artist WILF CHAPPELL.....

With accompanying critique by OSA juror extraordinaire Cathy Groulx!

Take a moment to check out this winning entry - and the juror's comments - in full-screen mode.

As noted in our concurrent post commemorating Ethel Mitrovic's winning sculpture entry, I daresay that you'll find the miniaturized works of the exhibiting artists to be both unconventional and beguiling.

Featured Artist: Philip Schmidt, Explorer

Philip is a purest.
He has resisted all attempts to convert him to digital, and continues to use film.
He also is an intrepid explorer, all of his shots come with a story, may have cause injury, and often are taken while in real danger.  His featured work 'Lightening Strikes Twice' fits all three categories.

George Sapkowski, digital magician: Featured Artist

First, George has an incredible eye. Like any art photographer he has a talent for seeing what so many of us miss.
Second he has a gift for staging, combining elements into the best composition possible.
Third once out of the camera and onto his computer his digital manipulation takes an already great shot, and makes it magical.
His featured work this month, 'Red Boxing Gloves' is a wonderful example of Georges many gifts.
